Before beginning the treatment protocol, you will be examined by a neurologist and an MRI scan of the brain will be carried out to map regions affected by the disease and pinpoint the regions to target for treatment.
This is followed by a six-week intensive treatment phase of five daily one-hour sessions per week. At each daily session, you will receive concurrent focused Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and tailored cognitive exercises designed for your specific capabilities. The treatment sessions are painless and non-invasive, and you may maintain your normal daily routine throughout the treatment. After completing the 6-week course your physician will assess the most suitable follow up protocol to meet your individual needs and to best maintain the results achieved.
What to expect
You will start to feel improvement in cognitive ability as early as three to four weeks after treatment begins.* This improvement can take many forms. For example, it may become easier to speak, remember things, concentrate or perform everyday activities.
This improvement should increase throughout the six-week treatment protocol, and also after the treatment course is completed. After completing the program, your physician will discuss follow up protocols. In clinical studies, patients have maintained improved cognitive levels for up to one year.*
You are welcome, and encouraged, to continue to take any current prescribed medications, as well as perform any other activities which you enjoy and find effective.
